Oncologist Dr. Mary-Ellen Taplin To Speak At Brunswick Support Group PDF Print

Dr. Mary-Ellen TaplinAdvances in prostate cancer research are giving new hope to many.  While most men are contending with low levels of cancer, it helps everyone to know  significant advances are being made against the most aggressive forms. Prostate cancer recurs in approximately 15% to 20% of men who have had a primary treatment, so no one ever fully knows what to expect in their future.

Whether you are just beginning your prostate cancer journey, or are further along, Dr. Taplin's talk, as well as the question and answer period afterwards are certain to provide you with important information and knowledge.

Dr. Mary-Ellen Taplin, an oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, plays a key leadership role in the Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Consortium which has substantially increased the speed research moves from lab to the bedside.

She is scheduled to appear at the Bath-Brunswick Area Prostate Cancer support group on Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 pm, Mid Coast Hospital in the conference rooms adjacent to the cafeteria and as always admission is free and all are welcome.

Prostate cancer survivors when properly treated are having better outcomes than ever before, even when their cancers recur and much of that success is due to the impressive research by oncologists such as Dr. Taplin. She is a principal investigator developing some important results in a clinical trial targeting men who are dealing with advanced prostate cancer.

We will learn not only about Dr. Taplin’s research but also about the other great efforts by Dana Farber researchers fighting prostate cancer.
